Go from helping to taking a turn

  • Do the first round together. Show where the supplies go and what a finished job looks like. For folding laundry, start with matching socks.
  • Hand over one step at a time. When a child is ready, let them choose when to do their part and check it off themselves or with you.
  • Share the planning too. At the end of the week, ask what felt easy and what needs a swap. Adults choose jobs that suit each child and handle hot, sharp, heavy or hazardous items.

Set up the family routine in HomeShine

  1. In Tasks, tap + and add a job such as Fold the laundry together.
  2. Set the first date and choose Weekly under Repeat. Assign the job to the person who will get it started.
  3. In Optional details, add a short checklist such as pair socks, fold towels and put the clean laundry away.
  4. For a quick tidy together, use Quick Tidy and pick one small spot before the timer starts.

Shared chores, standard repeats and Quick Tidy are included in Free. An adult can manage the family household and supervise children’s use.
